I suffered from it for yrs. When I finally found the right doctor, life got better. She put me on Metformin, which helped regulate my periods and actually curbed my appetite, which helped me lost quite a bit of weight w/out even really trying. If you have to take meds, I’d certainly try that one. You’re doing it the right way though, by trying to control it w/ diet instead of meds. My journey was long and ended in hysterectomy, but many women learn to live normal lives w/ it. Good luck!

Thank you so much for addressing PCOS. I found out that I had it at 17 years old. I have been with my husband for almost four years, but married for one. I’ve always wanted to be a mom and my dr. told me that we probably couldn’t get pregnant on our own. We were planning on adopting later on. I was very sad and bitter toward my family and friends who were constantly having babies. It was horrible. I started metformin and now I’m 4.5 months pregnant. God is good!

I’ve had PCOS for as long as I can remember. I take birth control and spironolactone. I recently stopped taking metformin (after taking it for a few years) because it made me horribly sick. they were actually considering a hysterectomy until I found out on my own that it was the metformin that was making me so sick! I have all the symptoms and I’ve gained weight since I stopped the metformin. I’ve been looking for a good diet plan and I’ll check out the one you mentioned!

I found out because I was having a lot of pain in my abdomen. I went to the ER and they found a cyst that was 15 centimeters in diameter :D lol! I thought that was a little crazy. But I wound up having to get it surgically removed, which was done about 2-3 weeks ago. i was so worried about the infertility(even though I’m only 17), but I really want to be a mom :) They had to take my fallopian tube with the cyst, so I only have one functioning ovary :( I really need to lose weight though too!

It’s amazing how many people have PCOS – it seems just about every comment I read, the person has it (I do too)! Insulin resistance is when your body doesn’t use insulin properly – so when glucose enters the blood, insulin is the hormone that is responsible for getting the glucose out of the blood and into the cells, so if that doesn’t happen blood glucose levels are high, leading to the possibility of developing type 2 diabetes. I can’t wait to see more videos on this!

Thanks for talking about this. That made me do some research myself. I was getting kinda freaked out as you were reading the symptoms because I’ve got too many of them… Things that I thought were no big deal now seem to all tie in together.

@kimberlynovember you should definitely go to your doctor and tell him your symptoms! =)

I love your beauty channel . Im 27 now and was diagnosed @ 22. Metformin to me was a god sent because It helped with the weight loss and the abnormal periods. I worked for an endocrinologist for about 4 years and he has taught me alot. I lost about 75 pounds from a combo of exercise a low-carb diet, metformin and water… I can’t stress the fact that you need to drink alot of water. Like i’ve seen post here about metformin yes it makes your a little uncomfortable but in the end it’s worth it !!

I have PCOS too. I was on bc pills and spironalactone for 9-10 years. I think being overweight plays a huge role in it as I was overweight at the time I was diagnosed. I agree you should try to control your weight first before turning to meds. I don’t think it’s good to be on birth control pills long term even though doctors try to say it’s fine. Tons of side effects with that as well. I wish my doctor would have pushed me to lose weight first instead of just putting me on meds.

Hi Nikki, thanks for the pcos info, it helped me a lot. I am new to being diagnosed with pcos and i think its really cool your speaking out about it. we actually had similar stories on how we got diagnosed. I could have been diagnosed earlier if i had gone to the doctor i had at the time. but yeah keep up this channel please. thanks! -Nikky

my advise to you is not take any meds for pcos while on weight watchers. i have pcos and was given meds to help with pcos while i was also on weight watchers and it actually made me very sick. the meds make your body think you haven’t had any food for the day and you end up starving yourself.

@babibluez08 thanks for your opinion, I don;t really want to take any meds but my doctor is kind of pushing birth control, not sure what i’m going to do yet!

I also have PCOS. I was diagnosed in my late 20s but had been suffering the symptoms for at least 8-10 years before being diagnosed when I tried to become pregnant and was not able to do so. I was immediately put on Metformin and its made ALL the difference to me. I’ve been taking it for 6 years and it has really helped me to control everything. I have to say that my facial hair issues are the symptom that I hate the most!!!

4 years ago the dr prescribe a med that caused my tongue to swell and my jaw went all the way to left. My eyebrows went up. I nearly died cause of it. The countered med caused my body to spasm. I couldn’t drive for a year. So becareful with the meds. I went to an herbalist who ran tests to find the vitins and herbs to cure my digestive problems and get my face back to normal. Took a year but atleast I don’t look like the creature from a horror movie. I wouldn’t go on public cause of it.

My cousin has that. She refuses treatment and is getting worst. She also refuses to lose weight. Her mom had ovarian cancer. My aunt went through and back on chemotherapy but she’s fine now. I do have several friends who ate also suffering from the problem.
