What Does a Ovarian Cyst Mean for Future Pregnancy Plans?

I was just told I have an 2 inch ovarian cyst on my left ovary and I only talked to the nurse and not the doctor yet. I was hoping to get a little information on this while I wait for my doctor to call.
My husband and I want to start a family and are wondering if this is going to be another obstacle we are going to have to get over.

Please give me any hope or information that you have, I would really appreciate it!

It depends on the type of cyst. Most women do get either corpus luteum or follicular cysts at some point during their childbearing years. Most often they go away on their own — if they don’t they are removed via laparoscopy.

I had two corpus luteum cysts I needed surgically removed (one was the size of a grapefruit) when I was 18. I had no issues conceiving my two children.

Nothing hun, I’m pregnant and I have a cyst right now also. I don’t think you will have to worry about anything. They usually go away on there own. :)

Most women get cysts and one point or another. Most are harmless and will disappear on their own. Some need to be removed but it shouldn’t hurt your fertility.
Its more likely to hurt your fertility while its there than after removal since it can mess up your cycles.

2 inches is pretty darned huge though, is it possible they meant 2cm?

its still possible to get pregnant with one. ur dr might want to try to treat it first, some birth control pills help with them. i have one and my dr put me on yaz and the cyst has almost disapeared now. i had it before i got pregnant as well, and i have a beautiful little boy. feel free to ask the dr any questions u have and express any concerns, they r more than happy to explain things to u

I have an ovarian cyst on both ovaries. The doctor told me it means nothing. It is not growing any larger in me and I have probably had it all my life. . .so find out how long you have had it and if it is growing larger. As for future pregnancy. . .of course you can still get pregnant. If there are eggs that are functioning, you can get pregnant. . .but some doctors may recommend a pill to reduce the size of the cysts. The fact that you have a cyst may also mean that your menstrual cycle isn’t regular which means that you may need a pill to regulate it or you may need to do a series of blood work through a fertility doctor to find out exactly when you are ovulating. The hormone you need to get pregnant is FSH and if this is normal, you shouldn’t have a problem with getting pregnant.
    but consult your doctor.
