Ultrasound Ovarian Cyst Images

For those who have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), or if a pelvic ultrasound?

I had my blood test this week past and today, I have an appointment for a pelvic ultrasound to find ovarian cysts. What should I expect never had an ultrasound before? It's like an X-ray where they study the images for a week or they know something when they see it? Just curious. I'm tired of waitng and let me know if I have PCOS. In my gynecologist gave me notes to give the radiologist said: "Pelvic Ultrasound" specifcally. Does that mean they will not make a vagina?

A pelvic ultrasound displayed the uterus, the thickness of the lining of the endometrium and ovaries. There are two ways to do a pelvic ultrasound ….. transabdominal or transvaginal. For transabdominal u / s, must be designing a full bladder female reproductive system. The bladder is full opens a window for the sound waves, the lifts in the uterus in the pelvis bone structures and away from the intestine and uterus, as u / s, I can not imagine anything in the air (air containing the intestines). The sonographer will put some gel on the skin over the right the bladder and use a camera (the transducer) for images. For transvaginal u / S, the bladder empties. A small device (transducer) is covered with a condom and inserted into the vagina to obtain images. Usually, only a little uncomfortable (think of your pelvic exam with your OB / GYN). Most facilities has been an appointment with a full bladder first. If the uterus and ovaries are not looking good for various reasons, which will continue on a transvaginal scan. Some institutions still do both transabdominal and transvaginal examinations in all studies of the basin do. You should never have only a transvaginal study. If you had a mass above the pelvis, which could easily get lost in the transvaginal analysis. transvaginal probes have a limited range distance, something far cervix could not miss. Each scan takes about 15 minutes. The sonographer places the images on film or on a floppy disk for the radiologist. Studied photos and made a report, which was captured and forwarded to your referring physician. Each school, I worked has a lap time of about 24-48 hours for your reports.
