I’m a woman in my mid 40′s with no kids. I have never been to a women’s doctor. But lately I’ve been concerend. My mom had a hysterectomy when she was in her 30′s, my sister had cancerous tumors removed last year from her ovaries, my great aunt had ovarian cancer, my mom also had a hormonal breast cancer and my grandmother had some cancer (not sure which kind though). I don’t really have any symptoms but I was just wondering with all this in my family if I have a right to be concerned. I finally made an appointment to see a doctor next week. Plus I’m very overweight. Thank you.
I have suspected ovarian cancer and i am awaiting an appointment for blood tests and an ultrasound after xmas, my symptoms are worsening although not too bad at this current moment in time – should i go to a&e and get tested there? Is it a valid reason?
I would need to call an ambulance as i have no means of transportation.
My stomach is swelling to the extent that I look pregnant, and the pressure hurts pretty badly. I’m very weak and tired all the time. I have very bad cramps, often better during sex, but returning immediately afterwards (and I haven’t even had menstrual cramps during my period for about seven years- so this is very unlike me). I have a lot of gas and pretty much can’t stop belching. My back’s been giving me trouble, and my throat closes up a lot now. I have really bad stomach pains, probably from the bloating/gas swelling up, and it appears as if the gas and belching are the reason my food keeps coming up- this is not like reflux though- no acid or anything. Sometimes there is a faint, white discharge with not much of an odor, and hard to see, but it is still there. I’ve also been having really strong headaches nearly all day every day.
As far as medicines go, I’m not taking anything but birth control (Ocella) which has given me NO problems since I was switched from ones that were problematic. Gas-Ex for the stomach issues, which pretty much flattens out my entire midsection (the major swelling is definitely gas) and stops the pressure-related pain. Excedrin only once a day for headaches/migraines.
This has all been going on for about two weeks straight now and not getting any better. Gyno appointment next week, but I really want opinions as soon as possible. I’m not sure what’s going on.
ive got an appointment for 20th may for an investigation of ovarian function, how long does this whole process take?
Would you necessarily experience localised pain over the affected ovary. Apart from that is there generally no symptoms or could any of these be symptoms:
Abdominal bloating feeling and general mild abdominal discomfort.
Feeling the need to go to the bathroom (#1) more frequently.
Depression and weepiness.
Breast tenderness even after period has finished.
Lighter periods than usuall (2-3 days instead of 4-6) for past 2 cycles.
Thank you for your input — your experiences please. Thank you.
I really aprreciate all your help – some great answers and thank you so much. Hope to book an appointment for tomorrow.
I have a friend, more of an acquaintance really, who has stage 4 ovarian cancer. I am on her "Caringbridge" blog, and so I automatically get her journal updates. I saw her over Memorial Day weekend at the country club we both belong to. She looked great, all smiles, etc. She was a former flight attendant back in the day when they were chosen primarily for looks, and she still maintains striking good looks. She has been undergoing chemo and has been hopeful that this treatment will, if not cure the cancer(?), at least greatly prolong her life. Yesterday she wrote in her journal that the test results showed no improvement. She said she has a doctor’s appointment on Monday to try to figure out "where we go from here." She also commented, "This is going to be a very long weekend." If she were a dear, dear friend who I had known for years and who I could laugh and cry with, I would know what to do. But with her, I’m unsure. Has anyone out there any ideas?
