Is Colon Cancer Ever Misdiagnosed as Ovarian Cancer?
My mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died after 3 years of treatment…I have a hunch that she actually had colon cancer and it was misdiagnosed by a lazy physician.
@april…are you being a smart azz?…this is a serious question about someone I loved and now dead.
No
April wasnt being a smart azs, she was correct.
No, there’s no mistake. This was not diagnosed by one doctor, but rather there were multiple doctors involved. The pathologist would have looked at the cells and determined the cell type, in addition to the surgeon. It isn’t just a determination of colon or ovarian, but there are subtypes as well–your mother had a particular type of ovarian cell cancer. The doctors involved in this would not have made this complex of a mistake because it would involve a whole chain of major mistakes. Why would you think that there was a misdiagnosis? If you think so because the tumor was on the colon, then that would not be an indication that it was colon cancer. The majority of women with ovarian cancer die of tumors growing on their digestive system and blocking it.
No…
Being truthful. Biopsy would have confirmed where the cells originated, no matter what organ it was found in.
Physician may take biopsy and do scans. He wouldn’t have diagnosed it. Path results would have.
Uh…….they’re in two differnt places from two differnt tests………how could they be misdiagnosed???????
And what is the point anyway????? It’s been years now.
