    how do they check for pcos? blood test? ultrasound?

    I found out by ultrasound, and the fact that i didnt ovulate and had irregular periods. There are also blood tests you can get done to check insulin resistance, and hormone levels, but blood tests alone arent always conclusive. So Id suggest doing everything, I am actually seeing a dr today to get tests done. The more you know the more you can do to manage your symptoms!

    You should ask her next time you see her if she thinks you have it, it may not mean that you do have pcos, do you have any other symptoms of it? acne, facial hair, low energy, hair loss from scalp, overweight? and are your periods regular and do you know if you ovulate?

    @syncng Definitely ask for a pelvic ultrasound..not just a regular ultrasound bc they can miss the cysts and tell you that nothing is abnormal

    It’s your pancreas that produces insuline, not spleen.

    @summerchic21

    Uh… no. They aren’t. The pancreas is an endocrine and exocrine organ that produces insuline and digestive enzymes. The spleen produces cells that are involved in immune responses. They’re kinda near each other (as most things are in the body), but they certainly aren’t the same thing. It’s okay, you said the wrong word by accident. Not the end of the world.

    @NYCsistahofvirtue aw dont worry, at least now you know what to do to help you get pregnant! There is so much you can do and i suggest try everything natural first, it worked for me. Look into some herbs and homeopathic remedies to help and im sure within a few months you will be on the road to better fertility :)

    I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 2000 when I was 21. I eventually reversed it with a very low-carb diet and LOTS of exercise. Despite also having MS (diagnosed in 2009), I do weight training, cardio, etc. There are other items I had to eliminate out of my diet such as soy, etc. Lifestyle was the key for me when medication did not work.

    @barose1 Glad you found a way to overcome it! I agree that lifestyle and natural remedies are far better than drugs to help PCOS!

    @NYCsistahofvirtue There are a lot of us out here that have it. There is support in knowing you aren’t alone. I’ve not been treating my body right and I’m making changes to do what is good and healthy for my body. Don’t let it get you down, let it make you stronger. Hugs
