IVE BEEN TO AN OBGYN PLENTY OG TIMES!!!!!!! IAM ON HORMONE PILLS AND PAIN PILLS AND STILL BLEEDING AND STILL HAVING PAIN
Have you asked any of your doctors to give you something for the pain? You may have to get more tests done like ultrasound, laproscopy (a surgical procedure to diagnose endometriosis and other problems) but be sure you have insurance to cover them. Going to the E.R. everytime because of pain is very expensive and it would be better if you had something for the pain on a regular basis when you need it. I’m not talking about something like Advil because that didn’t help me. I’m talking about narcotic pain meds to help get you through. You shouldn’t drive while taking them and they can make you sleepy but they may make getting through your days a lot easier. I was able to do more things while on pain meds when I had severe chronic pain. I’m off narcotics now because I have two spinal cord stimulators but had been taking them for about six years. I also took Tylenol #3 during periods and then had to go up to vicodin when the Tylenol #3 didn’t work as well. I had a total hysterecomy keeping both ovaries and have not had anymore problems with pain below. I recommend you get one doctor that you like and stick with that one. Call the doctor on call before you decide to go to the E.R. because the doctor may be able to call something in for you. For heavy bleeding that causes anemia, or you can’t be away from a bathroom more than an hour it should be looked into why you’re having it. Your doctor doesn’t know anyone to help you? You can ask friends for recomendations or call your hospital and speak to a nurse or two on the maternity floor. Nurses work with doctors so they may be able to tell you who their patients like for a gynecologist.
Also an alternative to going to the E.R. to reduce the high cost of E.R. visits would be to try an urgent care center if the doctors office isn’t open. A doctor in an office can charge about $100 to see you and an E.R. is over thousands of dollars just to look at you and doesn’t even cover what test you may have done. An urgent care center will be more than a doctors office visit but not as high as an E.R. visit. We took our daughter to urgent care when she broke her arm and on to an orthopedic doctor office visit and the entire bill was under $500.00.
I also have more information on what can cause pain and heavy bleeding and lots of info on other posts. If you want you can contact me.
There is someone who specializes in your area: a gynecologist. I’ve had problems with my period since I was 9, that was 10, almost 11, years ago. I refused to see a doctor or go to the emergency room until recently when I was bent over the toilet vomiting uncontrollably and bleeding so much I had to change my pad/tampon every 30 minutes. The ER did nothing really but put me on vicodin and send me home with a referral to a gynecologist. I went to the gynecologist 2 days later, and though all he did was give me better medicine and put me on birth control, I am more than happy I went to see him. I no longer have a period. Without my period I have no pain and there is no massive bleeding. It makes my life much, much easier!
