Can Ovarian Cancer Stage IIIC Be Borderline?

I was just told that I had Stage IIIC ovarian cancer. The dr found cancer in ovaries, a fallopian tube, and a lymph node. The lab said that all of the cancer from these areas was Borderline non-invasive. My dr said this is not possible because if cancer is in my lymph node it is invasive. Can someone please tell me what they are talking about I have no idea what they are talking about!?!?!?!?!

My sister had Stage III ovarian cancer in December of 2008. It did metastasize to a lymph node in her abdomen. She had a hysterectomy and the lymph node was also removed. She then had a six month course of chemotherapy and is now cancer free. She has regular checkups and they monitor her CA125 level, which is a cancer marker. So far so good. It has been known to recur. I think that your doctors or the lab should be a little more specific. It appears that they are not explaining themselves clearly. Borderline invasive?? It either is, or is not, invasive. I believe and explanation is in order. The only reason they designate it as Stage III is because it did spread beyond the site of origin, but not to a great degree. I am glad for you that it was found when they did. As my sister can attest to……. it is curable. Ovarian cancer is usually symptomless until it is too late. They found hers only in the process of testing for something else. I sincerely wish you the best of outcomes.

Your doctor is correct and should be the one explaining pathology reports to you. You should not leave the office with this kind of question left unexplained. If you have a copy of the report you can type what is states under diagnosis and that will help clear up the problem as what you are saying does not make sense.

doctor is right.maybe the lab meant locally low level of invasiveness.
