When women in my family get to a certain age they tend to develop tiny tumors in their ovaries and end up getting a hysterectomy. Can I get one if I am at a high risk?

Only family history shall not be the reason for you to have Hysterectomy.
Diagnosed ovarian ca. patient should under go op.
Best course is ,you should have regular check up by your doc.

A hysterectomy refers to the removal of the uterus.
I have had one and my ovaries are still intact.
It would serve no useful purpose towards preventing ovarian cancer to remove the uterus.
Talk to your Dr to find if a prophylactic oophorectomy.
There are associated risks and it is generally not performed until over the age of 35.
It may be worth being genetically tested for the BRAC genes before undertaking such a radical step.
